Crew

Aurora and Arktika always have two or three crew and all are not “only” sailors but fantastic guides for the land-based activities. Our guides have received extensive training as Wilderness First Responders, ski guides and avalanche technicians, BCU sea-kayaking guides, yachtmasters etc.

We are social. We post frequently on Facebook and Instagram. We can also be found on LinkedIn and Pinterest.

captain_siggi

Owner/captain is Sigurdur “Siggi” Jonsson.

He has been playing in the mountains and the oceans around his native Ísafjörður all his life. He is a Naval Architect and Ocean Yachtmaster and has been skippering Aurora since 2006 and Arktika since 2016.
His work and play has taken him all over the world: from skiing in Canada, climbing in the Alps, kayaking in Greenland to sailing in Antarctica. Siggi has worked for mountain rescue teams in Iceland for many years and received training in first-aid, mountaineering, mountain rescue, avalanche rescue etc.

His passion for the lands and cultures of the North Atlantic and the Arctic is second only to his enthusiasm about sharing this with new friends. He is a great cook and enjoys coming up with new recipes from local delicacies.
